2018 Team DescriptionsUpdated Tuesday April 3, 2018 by Carolyn Dudeck.
3rd & 4th Grade Spirit
Cheshire Junior Cheer’s 3rd & 4th Grade Spirit Team will consist of new and returning cheerleaders. On this team our cheerleaders will learn the basic fundamentals of becoming a cheerleader in an exciting, laid back atmosphere. Practices will be held from 5:30-8:00 two - three nights a week, during the entire month of August, at Bartlem Park. These practices are mandatory, in order for the girls to be confident and safe on the football field at games. Once the season starts, practices are held for approximately one hour prior to each game. Most of the games will be home games at Cheshire High School, with the possibility of a few away games. These cheerleaders will cheer on the sidelines during the games, and perform a halftime routine or dance. We look forward to bringing our new and retuning cheerleaders together to practice the basic Fundamentals of Cheer.
5th through 8th Grade Spirit
5th through 8th Grade Spirit continues to advance the cheerleader’s skills, and techniques as the cheerleaders get older. Cheerleaders on these teams will learn more intricate walls, dances, and motions. New cheerleaders are always welcome to join at any grade. Practices will be held from 5:30-8 two nights a week during the entire month of August, at Bartlem Park. There are so many fun and exciting things to learn, so practices are mandatory. Cheerleaders will cheer for both home and away games. Game schedule will be communicated as soon as it is set. Once the season starts, practices are held one hour prior to each game. These cheerleaders will cheer on the sidelines during the games, and perform more involved halftime routines. We are excited to learn some new dances, cheers and stunts this year!
6th, 7th & 8th Grade Competition
Competition is a larger commitment to the Cheer program. The Competition Team has more practices, and involves an increased commitment. 6th through 8th Grade Competition team will learn a 2 ½ minute cheer routine with dancing, stunting, and cheering. Practices will be held Monday through Thursday in August, at Bartlem Park from 5:30-8. Once the football season starts, practices will move to Dodd Middle School, where we will have access to the competition mats. Once at Dodd, the dates and times will be announced. We are looking into two times a week. The 6th through 8th Grade Competition teams will compete in both Local and State Competitions with the possibility of advancing to Regionals. We are excited to teach the advances stunts that we have for this year and amazing choreography.
